Perfect with only good surprises

My wife and Ioved Casina di Rosa! Not only was the cottage as charming and cozy as the website pictures depict (i.e. no surprises), it’s nestled in the wonderful little Tuscan village of Civitella Marittima.

This was our first visit to Tuscany and we found that the location of Civitella Marittima was perfect for us. It was a great location in terms of getting to other towns to sightsee and we enjoyed driving through the beautiful countryside of Tuscany, which was amazing. We also appreciated being able to come back to this quiet and charming town after a long day of touring. It was so nice to be able unwind by relaxing on the little patio, sipping our wine and take in the “life” of this village. I should mention also, that despite the fact that most if not all of the townspeople do not speak English, they were very warm and friendly and often would greet you with a smile and “buongiorno”.

The cottage was clean, spacious and very comfortable for the two of us. It had everything you could possibly need, including a well equipped kitchen, a washing machine, a blow dryer (I mention the blow dryer only because my wife wondered if she needed to pack one for this trip) and several travel books as well as maps, which proved to be more helpful than the GPS in the rental car! When we walked in, there were fresh flowers and a basket with pasta, a red sauce and a bottle of wine on the kitchen table and yummy Italian chocolates in the sitting area. Such a nice touch!

Because we usually stay in sizable hotels, we really didn’t know what to expect of Casina di Rosa, but I can honestly say it was one of the highlights of our trip. It truly was a home away from home. We have already recommended this cottage to several friends and plan on coming back on our next trip to Tuscany.
