New Year's Eve in Tuscany
Traditionally, Italians spend Christmas with their families, but New Year’s Eve is a time for celebrating with friends until the early hours of the morning.
The ideal New Year’s celebrations start with a large dinner, called cenone, with friends or in a good restaurant where the meal is usually accompanied by live music. After dinner the celebrations move outdoors to the piazze, or town squares where numerous events are organized.
In Siena, the New Year’s celebrations are concentrated in the Piazza del Campo, where each year a concert is organized.
In Florence, there are numerous activities organized for New Year’s Eve and the choice of restaurants featuring meats, seafood or ethnic dishes is vast. Events are organized throughout the city centre.
In Grosseto, the celebrations take place in the Piazza del Duomo.
In Siena, at 10:00 pm in Piazza del Campo there will be a concert called “50 anni a memoria” – Mauro Pagani e l’Orchestra Straordinaria. Moreover, from December 16th to January 20th, La Lizza hosts an ice-skating rink. Download the program for the events of Christmas and New Year’s Eve celebrations in Siena.
