Casina di rosa is a really nice house.

My boyfriend and me spent one week in a village called Civitella Marittima in Tuscany. We went there because we found a good deal to rent a house from the owner.

This review has a double goal: the first is to really recommend the house, the second is to even more warmly recommend the area.It was a great surprise.

Ok, first let me get the house out of the way. Casina di rosa is a really nice house. It has been recently renewed and it’s small but really nice for two people.

The landlord was nice and helpful. She left us a welcome basket with a bottle of wine and a bottle of oil and a discount for a meal in a very good restaurant.

The house is well equipped and linnen and towels are provided. There is no central heating, but there is a gas stove which does the trick. The house is independent so it is also pretty private.

The village is nice and non touristic. Although it would deserve to be. However that is a valuable thing because you can experience true Italian life.

Ok, let’s move on to the area. The area must absolutely be recommended. It’s called Alta Maremma, which makes a nice blend of the nature of Maremma and the beauty of the hills of Siena.

Actually historically and culturally the area is a blend too. The ara is almost unexplored. There are a few compatriots around but nothing like Chianti or Siena.

The location is really central and if you have a car (which is almost essential) you get to visit art cities like Florence or Siena as daytrips, or other close centres like Montalcino and Pienza, as well as minor centres like Pari or Monte Antico, which honestly deserve a stop.

Nature is almost unspoilt. You can drive for an hour in the woods, or better walk there! Beware hunters in autmn though! Wild bore hunting is big there!

I really really recommend Alta Maremma.
