A very quiet and quaint location

Location
The cottage is located in the village of Civitella Marittima. It is a cute two room stone cottage built by the owner’s great grandparents. Her mother was born in the house. It has a fully functioning kitchen with oven and stove top. There is a nice selection of pots, pans, and silverware.
The cottage was very private. It is located right in the village so aside from the occasional noises (dogs barking, people talking) it is very quiet and quaint location.
Nearby Amenities
The nearest grocery store was a 15 minute drive away in Paganico. There is also a tiny store right in the village but we got the majority of our groceries at the In-Coop in Paganico. There was a nice restaurant a five-minute walk from the cottage and an awesome pizzeria a five-minute drive away right at the entrance of the village.
The cottage has a washing machine.
The House/Apartment
The cottage is on the top floor of a house. The bottom part is being used as someone’s garage. The cottage was in great shape. Very cool in the evenings but the blanket kept us nice and warm. One room was the kitchen and eating area and the other side was the bedroom, living area, and bathroom with shower (no tub).
Garden
There was a little chair outside with some plants but we didn’t sit there. No pool but a beach about an hour away.
Furnishings/Cleanliness/Living Areas
The furniture was in good shape. The cottage was very clean.
Bedrooms/Bathrooms
I found the bed comfortable but my husband found it too hard. The bathroom was small but functional.
Kitchen
There were plenty of pots, pans, and dishes in the kitchen. We only cooked the first night because we were lazy. The kitchen had an oven and stove-top.
Agency and Representatives (and price)
The owner is a local who teaches English and her husband is Canadian so they both speak English fluently so it was very comfortable to be able to communicate with them.
We paid €450 for the week, which I found to be an excellent price.
Do you recommend this vacation rental to others?
I would stay here again.
Bring an eye mask if you need your bedroom to be like a cave because the shutters don’t close completely and light spills out from the sides.
There is the occasional dog barking in the early morning so bring ear plugs if this happens while you are there.
If you are sensitive to fragrant detergents, bring your own from the US because they only have detergent with scent in Italy. The owner provides the Italian detergent for you to do your laundry in the washing machine.
Things to do in this area
The owners created a wonderful binder for us with a map of the village and things to do in the area with phone numbers. It was extremely helpful and they even made us dinner reservations one night when we had trouble making them ourselves.
